Jose Angel Herrera Castelan killed in construction accident
BROWNSVILLE, TX – A workplace accident claimed the life of a 34-year-old man last Wednesday at a construction site in northeast Brownsville, reports myRGV.com.
The incident occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. at a site along the Padre Island Highway, or TX-48, near North Central Avenue. This is just south of Mariano Gonzalez Sr. Elementary School.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a dirt compactor fell over, crushing the the man operating the machine.
Authorities pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. They’ve identified him as Jose Angel Herrera Castelan.
No other injuries have been reported in connection to the event.
