David Cavazos, 44, killed in Dawson Co. crash with semi-truck

DAWSON COUNTY, TX – A Lamesa man died Friday night in a two-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler along the highway in north Dawson County, reports everythingLubbock.

The accident happened shortly before 8 p.m. on the northbound side of US-87 near mile marker 342. This is somewhere between Lamesa and O’Donnell.

Police say that for unknown reasons, a northbound passenger vehicle rear-ended a Freightliner along the highway.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, identified as 44-year-old David Cavasos, died after transport to an area hospital.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, since identified as 44-year-old Edith Martinez Hernandez, did not sustain injuries in the wreck.

A full investigation is underway.
