Jessica Hobson, Chad Goss hurt in 2-car crash near Brookeland

JASPER CO., TX – Two adults sustained serious injuries Saturday in a two-vehicle collision along the highway in northeast Jasper County, reports KFDM 6.

Shortly after 5:30 a.m. emergency teams reported to the southbound side of US-96 just north of FM 1007. This is just south of Brookeland and east of Rayburn Park.

Police say that a southbound 2020 Dodge Charger was likely speeding when it rear-ended a southbound 2000 Ford Focus, causing both vehicles to leave the highway and crash into a ditch.

Bystanders helped to extricate the drivers, who were then taken to area hospitals with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities identified the driver of the Dodge as 18-year-old Chad Goss. The driver of the Ford was identified as 22-year-old Jessica Hobson.

Officials most likely closed at least one lane of US-96 southbound while crews worked at the scene Saturday morning.

A full investigation is underway.
