Gregory White, 56, claimed in fiery crash on I-10 in Beaumont

BEAUMONT, TX – A man died, and another person sustained injuries Sunday after fleeing an earlier collision and crashing along the interstate in Beaumont.

According to 12 News abc, the fatal accident occurred shortly after 8:30 a.m. on the eastbound side of I-10 between College Street and Hollywood Street.

Police say that 56-year-old Gregory Bernard White fled the scene of an accident that happened just prior near the intersection of Washington Boulevard and South 11th Street. While fleeing, White lost control of his vehicle and crashed along the interstate.

The vehicle caught fire, killing White and injuring an adult passenger. Medics transported the passenger to an area hospital with unknown injuries and in stable condition.

Authorities haven’t yet shared any details regarding the initial hit-and-run crash, and it’s unclear if anyone was injured or killed in that accident.

Officials closed the interstate in the area of the collision while emergency crews worked at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
