Reem Musallam, 37, killed in alleged street-racing collision
HOUSTON, TX – A two-vehicle collision along a major roadway in southwest Houston fatally injured a 37-year-old woman last Thursday, reports Click2Houston.
Shortly after 2 p.m., emergency crews responded to an alleged street-racing crash on the southbound side of Fondren Road between Wanda Lane and South Braeswood Boulevard. This is just east of Bonham Family Nature Park.
Police say that a Honda Accord and a Ford F20 appeared to be racing when the two vehicles collided. The impact of the crash split the Honda down its middle and caused the pickup truck to roll. At least one of the vehicles also hit a power line, causing power interruptions for almost 300 people in the area.
Medics transported two people from the Accord and one person from the F20 to area hospitals with serious injuries.
A passenger from the Accord, identified as 37-year-old Reem Musallam, succumbed to her injuries on Friday in the hospital.
There’s no word yet regarding charges for the two hospitalized drivers.
A full investigation is underway.
