Train and pickup collide in S Fort Worth, killing Ignacio Zapata
FORT WORTH, TX – A man went to the hospital over the Father’s Day weekend after a train accident in south-central Fort Worth, reports Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The collision happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the railroad crossing near the intersection of West Biddison Street and Ryan Avenue, which is west of I-35W and east of Granbury Road.
Police say that Ignacio Zapata was travelling along West Biddison when a train struck his pickup truck. It’s not yet clear if the crossing gates were down when the crash happened.
Medics transported Zapata to an area hospital with serious injuries. There were no other passengers in his vehicle at the time of the accident, and nobody on the train sustained injuries.
It’s unclear if the collision interrupted train service Saturday evening while crews cleared the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
