Daniel Barrientez Jr. IDed as victim in Midland Co. semi collision

MIDLAND CO., TX –  A 46-year-old man sustained fatal injuries last Tuesday in a multi-vehicle crash involving two semis near Midland, reports NewsWest 9.

At 6 a.m., emergency teams responded to a major accident along the westbound side of TX-158 near FM 1379. This is southeast of Midland and northwest of Garden City.

Police say that a westbound GMC 3500 collided with a 2012 Mack 18-wheeler when the driver of the latter vehicle entered from a private drive without yielding right of way. A second westbound semi-truck then struck the GMC.

The driver of the GMC died at the scene of the crash. Authorities identified him as Daniel Barrientez Jr. of San Angelo.

The two truck drivers were unhurt in the collision.

Motorists likely experienced a slow-down Tuesday morning along TX-158 westbound in area of the accident while crews worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
