SUV vs. e-scooter crash on Kermit Hwy kills Ramon Espinosa
ODESSA, TX – An e-scooter operator sustained fatal injuries Wednesday in a collision along the highway in east-central Ector County, reports First Alert 7.
The accident occurred shortly before 8 a.m. on the Kermit Highway, or TX-450, between Ventura Avenue and Santa Monica Avenue in Odessa.
Police say that Ramon Espinosa was operating a blue electric scooter on the eastbound side of the highway when an eastbound Ford Expedition struck him.
Espinosa succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the SUV stopped to render aid and to speak with police. It’s unclear if they will face charges in connection to the accident.
Motorists likely faced significant rush-hour delays Wednesday morning along the Kermit Highway while crews gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
