Car strikes, kills Pilot Point cyclist at Washington, Jefferson
PILOT POINT, TX – A bicyclist died Friday when they were struck by a vehicle at a busy intersection in northeast Denton County, reports Fox 4 KDFW.
Around 6:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to a major crash at North Washington Street and North Jefferson Street in Pilot Point, which is about 19 miles northeast of Denton.
It’s unclear if the victim was wearing a safety helmet and if they were riding their bicycle on the shoulder of the roadway or in a lane of travel. Additionally, officials haven’t commented on the manner in which the vehicle and bicycle impacted
The cyclist, who has not yet been identified publicly, succumbed to their injuries at an area hospital.
The driver involved in the collision notified police of the incident.
A full investigation is underway.
