Engine failure to blame in plane collision that injured off-duty Dallas officers in Forney

FORNEY, TX – An engine failure was to blame for a plane collision that injured three off-duty Dallas police officers on Saturday, Fox4News reports.

This comes as an update from a previous story we covered yesterday on Tuesday, May 19. New information reveals that one of the off-duty police officers was operating a single-engine Bellanca Downer 14-19-3 when they experienced an engine failure.

The plane crashed into a field around 12:30 a.m. in the area of the Southwest Corner of Helms Trail and Akron Way, and the plane overturned as a result.

One out of the three officers sustained serious injuries.

The Forney Police Department, DPS, and the FAA are investigating the details behind the crash and have not reported any citations at this time.

We will add updates as soon as we learn more.
