Jimmy Gaytan Killed in 18-Wheeler Crash on FM 1716 in Rusk County
Rusk County, TX. (December 6, 2021)- 39-year-old Jimmy Gaytan was killed in a two-vehicle crash on December 1, 2021, in Rusk County, Texas. The accident occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. on FM 1716, just south of Tatum, Texas. DPS reported that the driver of a northbound 2005 18-wheeler was traveling on the wrong side of the roadway while a 2007 Chevrolet Z71 was traveling southbound. The truck driver had attempted to move back into the northbound lane when their trailer was struck by the Chevrolet driven by Gaytan. Gaytan was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler was uninjured in the crash. No further details have been provided at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
