5-vehicle crash on US-79 south of FM 1798 in Rusk Co. injures 4

RUSK CO., TX – Injuries were reported in multi-vehicle crash that happened just over two weeks ago along the highway in west-central Rusk County, reports KLTV 7.

The accident happened on Monday, September 16th, around 5:30 p.m. on US-79 south of FM 1798. This is southwest of Henderson and northeast of New Summerfield.

Police haven’t yet shared any details regarding the circumstances of the collision except to say that it involved five vehicles.

Medics transported four people involved in the crash to an area hospital with unknown injuries. All of the victims are expected to survive.

Officials closed the highway for around two hours while crews assisted the victims and worked to clear the wreckage.
