Rodolfo Rodriguez Sr. named as victim in Allen semi crash

ALLEN, TX – A 52-year-old man died Sunday from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi along the highway in southwest Collin County.

According to WFAA News 8, the collision occurred shortly before 7 a.m. on the southbound shoulder of US-75 at West Bethany Drive in the city of Allen. This is about 7 miles northeast of Plano.

Police say that for unknown reasons, the driver of a southbound Chevrolet Malibu veered onto the shoulder of the highway and rear-ended an 18-wheeler. The semi was parked with hazard lights activated at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Chevy, identified as Rodolfo Rodriguez Sr. of Garland, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.

Medics transported a passenger from the car to an area hospital with non-critical injuries.

The truck driver was not hurt in the collision.
