Jose Reyna ejected, killed in Edinburg crash on FM 2812

EDINBURG, TX – A man sustained fatal injuries Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle collision in east-central Hidalgo County, reports ValleyCentral.

Shortly before 4 p.m., emergency crews responded to a crash involving a pickup carrying two people along FM 2812 just near Brushline Road on the far northeastern outskirts of Edinburg.

Police say that for unknown reasons, the driver of a 2006 Toyota Tundra lost control of the vehicle and hit both a pole and a concrete barrier. The impact of the collision threw an unrestrained passenger from the vehicle.

The passenger, identified as 65-year-old Jose A. Reyna, died after transport to an area hospital.

The female driver, who has not yet been named by police, remains in the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.

A full investigation is underway.
