Alejandra Franco IDed as victim in crash at Ruth St, 21st
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – A woman sustained fatal injuries in a multi-vehicle crash that happened last Thursday morning in central Corpus Christi, reports KRIS 6 News.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m., emergency teams responded to an accident caused by an apparent medical emergency on Ruth Street near 21st Street. This is just north of Wiggins Park and west of the Crosstown Expressway.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of an eastbound red GMC Sierra entered the westbound side of Ruth Street while experiencing a medical episode. The GMC collided with a westbound Dodge Ram truck and a parked Kia SUV before striking a female pedestrian.
Medics transported the pedestrian to an area hospital, where she later died from injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities identified the victim as 78-year-old Alejandra Franco.
No other injuries have been reported in connection to the accident, and the driver of the GMC will not face charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
