Fatality reported in head-on crash along Bee Cave Rd

AUSTIN, TX – A wrong-way crash involving three vehicles in southwest Austin killed one person and seriously injured another on Friday, reports CBS Austin.

The accident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. on Bee Caves Road, or FM 2244, at Resaca Boulevard. This is east of TX-71 in the Lake Pointe area.

Police say that for unknown reasons, a westbound vehicle entered the eastbound side of Bee Caves Road and collided head on with an eastbound vehicle after sideswiping another car.

One person succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the collision. Authorities haven’t yet shared the name of the deceased.

Medics airlifted a second victim to an area hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Officials closed Bee Caves Road in the area of the crash, causing rush-hour delays while emergency teams attended to the victims and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
