Juan Castro fatally struck on Bastrop Hwy near Austin-Bergstrom

AUSTIN, TX – An elderly man died last Monday when a vehicle struck him along a major roadway in southeast Austin, reports CBS Austin.

The accident occurred around 2:15 p.m. on the northbound side of the Old Bastrop Highway between Dalton Lane and Jet Lane. This is at the northwest corner of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

It’s unclear if 75-year-old Juan Santos Castro was walking in or along the roadway when a car hit him.

Medics performed CPR, but Castro succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The driver involved in the crash stopped to render aid and to speak with police. Intoxication does not appear to have been a factor.
