Rear-end crash on US-385 near Crane claims Derrel Harvey

CRANE CO., TX – Emergency crews responded to a fatality crash involving a semi in Crane County Tuesday afternoon, reports NewsWest 9.

The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. along US-385 near mile marker 386, which is between the city of Crane and Odessa.

Police say that a northbound Chevy Silverado collided with the rear of an 18-wheeler when the truck driver slowed for construction.

The elderly driver of the pickup truck died after transport to an area hospital. Authorities identified him as Derrel Harvey of Crane.

The driver of the semi did not require hospitalization.

Motorists likely experienced rush-hour delays along US-385 northbound Tuesday evening while crews gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
