“Driver’s fatigue” to blame for U.S. 75 18-wheeler accident, Howe PD says
HOWE, TX – Howe Police suspect “driver’s fatigue” was to blame for an 18-wheeler accident that occurred on U.S. 75 before 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, according to KTEN.
Police said the 18-wheeler driver, who they believed was tired, struck a construction barrier, causing diesel fuel to spill from the truck and onto the highway.
Due to the serious nature of the collision, police were left with no choice but to issue road closures so hazmat crews could clean up the spill. During that time, they redirected southbound drivers toward the Farmington Road exit.
Amid closures, drivers could also use westbound State Highway 289 and eastbound State Highway 5 as alternative routes.
Police reported no injuries, and no other occupants or vehicles appeared to have been involved.
