1 killed, 1 injured in multi-vehicle crash involving 18-wheeler in Arlington

ARLINGTON, TX – One person was killed, and another was injured in a multi-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler on Saturday, KTEN reports.

Arlington Police believe a driver of a silver Dodge Avenger was impaired and driving at a high rate of speed on Interstate 30 West when they rear-ended a white sedan.

The impact of that initial collision caused the sedan to go over several lanes of traffic before crashing into a parked vehicle on the interstate shoulder.

The Dodge Avenger also drove over several lanes of traffic before becoming disabled and getting struck by an oncoming 18-wheeler.

The 18-wheeler driver told police they tried to stop in time to avoid hitting the Dodge Avenger, but were unable to avoid a crash. The impact of that crash ejected the Dodge Avenger passenger from the vehicle.

The Dodge Avenger passenger was left in critical condition, while the driver of the white sedan sustained minor injuries. EMS crews rushed them both to the hospital. The Dodge passenger later died from their injuries. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release their name pending notification of next of kin.

Police reported no injuries for the truck driver or the Dodge driver.

Officials stayed behind at the scene and closed the westbound lanes to accommodate the scene clean-up process.

Police have not confirmed whether they arrested the Dodge driver or indicated what charges they could face.
