Tyler PD investigates after car hits child in crosswalk at Clayton and 5th

TYLER, TX – A middle schooler went to the hospital Thursday after a vehicle struck them at a busy intersection in southeast Tyler, reports CBS 19.

The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. at South Clayton Avenue and East 5th Street, which is north of Bell Elementary School and just south of Tyler Junior College.

Police say the child was walking in the crosswalk at the intersection when the vehicle hit him.

The victim sustained non-critical injuries and went with a parent to the hospital. It’s unclear if they travelled via ambulance or in a private vehicle.

The driver involved in the accident did stop to render aid and speak with authorities. There’s no determination thus far regarding charges.
