Marco Jimenez, 47, killed in wrong-way crash in Socorro

SOCORRO, TX – A wrong-way collision along a major roadway in west-central El Paso County killed one person and injured another on Tuesday, reports KFOX 14.

The two-vehicle accident occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Horizon Boulevard between Robin Road and Thunder Road in the city of Socorro. This is about 15 miles southeast of El Paso.

Police say that a Kia Forte and a white Ford pickup truck collided head-on when the driver of the latter car lost control of the vehicle and entered the wrong side of Horizon Boulevard.

The wrong-way driver, identified as 47-year-old Marco Jimenez, succumbed to his injuries after transport to an area hospital.

The driver of the Ford sustained non-critical injuries.

Drivers likely faced significant delays along Horizon Boulevard in the area of the accident while emergency crews worked at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
