Robbie Carter named as victim in Bastrop Co. collision

ELGIN, TX – One man and a teen girl died over the Labor Day weekend in a fiery collision that happened along the highway in north-central Bastrop County.

According to KVUE, emergency crews responded to US-290 and Saratoga Farms Boulevard in Elgin just before midnight on Saturday. This is about 26 miles northeast of Austin.

While there’s no word yet regarding the cause of the accident, police say it involved four vehicles, two of which caught fire upon impact.

Medics airlifted at least four people to area hospitals with unspecified injuries, and one person succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Authorities identified the victim as 66-year-old Robbie Carter.

A 13-year-old girl died after transport to the hospital. She’s been identified as Yareli Padierna.

Officials likely closed the highway while crews attended to the victims and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
