Jerry Crisp, Christopher Lucero killed in multi-vehicle crash

LUBBOCK, TX – Two men sustained fatal injuries Thursday morning in a five-vehicle collision along the highway in southeast Lubbock, reports Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.

The incident occurred shortly before 5:30 a.m. just east of Southeast Drive on US-84. This is southwest of Buffalo Springs Lake and Ransom Canyon.

Police say that the operator of an eastbound 1996 Harley Davidson motorcycle lost control of the bike, crashed over the median barrier, and entered the westbound side of the highway. A westbound 2016 Chevy SUV struck the motorcycle before crashing into a ditch near the railroad tracks that run alongside US-84. The Chevy was then hit by a train.

Shortly after these events unfolded, a westbound Chevy pickup collided with a second motorcycle along the highway.

The operator of the Harley Davidson, identified as 59-year-old Jerry Crisp, died at the scene of the crash.

The other motorcyclist died after transport to an area hospital. Authorities identified him as 37-year-old Christopher Lucero.

Medics transported the driver of the pickup truck to the hospital minor injuries.

The driver of the SUV did not sustain injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
