Police identify victim in Richardson hit-and-run on Central Expy

RICHARDSON, TX – Authorities have released the name of the man who died early Sunday in a hit-and-run collision along the Central Expressway in Richardson.

According to NBC DFW 5, a hit-and-run driver struck and fatally injured 57-year-old Omar Hammet sometime before 2 a.m. on the northbound side of the South Central Expressway, just north of Spring Valley Road.

Police characterized the accident as a hit-and-run crash and indicated that they were looking for a white SUV with front-end damage.

Now, police say that they have located a suspect driver, but they’ve not yet named the suspect publicly.

Officials are still investigating the incident and encourage anyone who may have witnessed the event to call the Richardson Police Department.
